I made this recipe to top my Pork and Bacon Burgers but obviously coleslaw is always good on it’s own as a side. I cheated and bought a pre-made coleslaw mix so all I had to do was whip up this awesome dressing and I was good to go!
1 cup mayonnaise
2 tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
1/2 tsp. celery seed
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. onion powder
2 tbsp. cider vinegar
1. In a large bowl, mix all ingredients until creamy smooth.
2. Toss coleslaw mix (homemade or store bought) with dressing to coat.
3. Chill at least 1 hour before serving.
It’s pretty easy stuff making coleslaw when the hard part is already done for you. That’s what is so great about those store bought mixes is that you can still make an easy side dish your own without slaving away and grating all those vegetables. Normally I prefer a vinegar based coleslaw but I really loved this one. It wasn’t over gooey but still super flavourful.
The only thing I didn’t follow in the recipe was that I didn’t have any celery seed, so I just skipped that one. Otherwise, it was a list of standard ingredients that I always have on hand at home.
PS: I’ve made this recipe twice since discovering it! Served on top of the previously mentioned Pork and Bacon Burgers with pictures below:
