I love blue cheese. I don’t know why, but I just do. And when I found this recipe, I just knew I had to try it!
1 lb. ground beef
1 tbsp. Dijon mustard
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 green onions, chopped
1/2 cup blue cheese, crumbled
1 tbsp. water
Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Toppings of your choice: lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise
1. In a large bowl, add beef, mustard, garlic, onions, blue cheese, water, and egg. Sprinkle a little salt and pepper. Use your hands to gently mix the ingredients together until just incorporated (don’t over work the meat). Shape into patties, about 1/2 inch thick and larger than your bun, press a small thumb print in the middle. Chill until you are ready to cook.
2. Preheat grill to high. Clean and oil the grates using tongs and a folded up paper towel dipped in vegetable oil.
3. Season patties with salt and pepper. Place patties on hot, well-oiled grill. Grill burgers about 5 minutes per side. Do not press down on the burgers while cooking.
4. Serve on hamburger buns with lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise.
So yummy. The blue cheese throughout was so good. I actually added a super thin slice to the top on my burger but that’s because I obsessed. My fiancé, who isn’t a huge fan of blue cheese, still really liked the burgers because it wasn’t too strong.
For the toppings, I just used the lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise. Not too sure what else would work with this burger when considering the blue cheese, but have fun with it.
